U.C. Davis, California Waterfowl and the California Wood Duck Program (CWDP) will be hosting a Wood duck 101 work shop and field day. This is a great oppurtunity learn about the CWDP and past & on-going wood duck research conducted by UCD!
Where: Putah Creek WDP (picnic grounds are near intersection of Hopkins and Levee Road, south of UC Davis)

Displays, Kids Activities, Box Building and Photo opportunities will be ongoing during the day; feel free to meet and
talk with the members of the CWDP. Long pants, good shoes and bug spray are recommended for the field tour.
9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Welcome and Introduction
Brief overview of the day’s activities by CWA Biologist Caroline Brady
CWDP information packets will be handed out
Meet the Members, Volunteers, and District Managers of the CWDP;
roundtable introduction
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Guided Tour and Live Banding Demonstration
Participants will walk or car pool into the field with our hosts CWDP Coordinator, Caroline Brady and UCD Professor Dr. John Eadie. You will be shown how nest boxes are managed, get a glimpse of what data is collected for an on-going wood duck research project, and experience live banding of a hen wood duck with a licensed CWDP District Manager. Get up close and personal with one of the most unique ducks that you will ever see
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Lunch Break and Social Period

Take I-80 West to CA-113 North toward Woodland
From San Francisco:
Take I-80 East to CA-113 North toward Woodland
Once on CA-113 N
Take Hutchinson Drive exit towards UC Davis
Keep left at the fork and follow signs for Hutchinson
Turn left onto Hutchinson
At the traffic circle, take 1st exit and stay on Hutchinson
At next traffic circle take 3rd exit and stay on Hutchinson
After about 1 mile turn left onto Hopkins
Follow Hopkins to the end and take a left onto Levee Rd.
Parking and signs will be visible at the intersection of Levee & Hopkins Rd
