I dunno that I would have taken that shot, it's not about not hitting the bird but at that height where I hunt the bird would have sailed off into 6ft high grass never to be seen again even with my dog. Or would only have been winged and so far away when it came down the dog would never be able to catch up to it out in open water.

It's not sky busting if you're killing them.

skybusting refers to the fact that the birds are at an extremely high altitude. posing a RISK of a cripple or sailor, not worth it

There's no way we take high shots. The timber we hunt it would be impossible to recover those ducks. Especially if they were just wounded not killed.

Yes, it is. Why? If you skybust in timber...you don't know but maybe the guys in the next hole have a hundred greenheads circling. You scared off their hundred to get your one. Skyblasters have had some bad things happen where I hunt and that is why.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who feels this way. To many of us (hunters) DU employee's. Wildlife lovers in general have worked to hard for to many years to help build heathly duck populations so that we can keep doing what we love. And sky busting is one of the fastest ways to cripple birds and kill them without being able to recover them. Not to mention like someone else posted it can screw up another hunters good hunt by punching holes in the sky to "maybe" get one bird down. Good on us fellas and ladies. Lets keep passing this kind of thing down to our future hunters. And maybe one day we will be able to see sun blocking clouds of ducks fill the skys once again. I think we are all doing a great job.
