I'm looking for a layout boat for the Lake Erie preferably plastic or light weight and can handle nasty weather. Anyone know any good brands?

Doesn't exist.

The best riding, most seaworthy layout boats are heavy.

There are companies that make light boats, but they don't handle heavy seas well and they are noisy (lots of slap).

IMO the best quality layouts are being made by Bankes, and they stand behind what they sell.

Just noticed your user name, Erie Deary. Do they still make 'em? Back in the '70s there must have been a bazillion and twelve Erie Dearies in the Western Basin on any given morning of the walleye season.

(Don't remember who made the layouts I've hunted in Lake Erie, just that on rough mornings I preferred running the tender.)

Build your own try marshmonster.com or UFO layouts they both sell plans I believe. Nothing like gunning Bill's from your own box...

Bankes Pumpkinseed! Extremely light and plenty of room for people with size 12 feet!
