Headed west to the early zone in KS. Warm with clouds of mosquitoes, but plenty of teal. Taz did great and shooting was good.

Still a ton of blue wings around Rick, kinda surprising.

Have heard that from several points well north. Being the second such year in a row makes it particularly disconcerting for those of us down here who cherish September teal.

Seems a bunch of those teal rode that good north wind out of town yesterday. Didn't see near as many, but was an influx of big ducks showing up, even saw a few mallards.

Did everything possible wrong today, were hunters in my first two scouted spots 2 hours before sunrise, Finally decided on a spot to walk towards, a great looking teal hole in the reeds. Unfortunately most teal were gone, and the big ducks were wanting the middle of the marsh. Still plenty of opportunities though. Shooting was poor, decision making was even worse, just one of those days!

Season finally opened locally for ducks and geese. First i remember having ice on the ponds for the opener, 20° with little wind. To start the day, I forgot the goose floaters, a couple flocks short stopped us in the middle of the pond. Ended with 3 geese, no ducks seen.

I've had some solo hunts with just one bird taken or none at all that were still pretty sweet. Don't remember any such I really minded. But they eat my lunch when most anyone else who doesn't get to go as much as I do is along.

I agree Rick. I had a good time hanging out with Taz watching a beautiful sunrise. Getting pics loaded to photobucket, will get some posted soon. Been busy lately.

Hit the river with Duckdog and Jager. Did some catch and release hunting today, let a lot go. First snap of cold weather, wind chills were near 0, not used to it yet. Ended the day with 2 greenheads.

Walked in to the river on a solo hunt. Not many birds flying, cold weather still sucks. 2 mallards on the strap, missed another , and lost a gadwall which dove out in the current to never be seen again. Taz had some great retrieves battling the current.

Like a dumass, decided to try the river again today. With everything else being froze up, it's my only option. Chilly this morning, remembering when it was 79 deg and I was shooting birds, COLD STILL SUCKS! Even less birds flying today, not sure where they are. 1 greenhead worked the dekes, the few other birds we saw were wanting to land 100 yards downstream in middle of the river. This 30-40 deg below average can suck my balls.

After a slow period, some new birds finally moved back into the area. Was only planning on scouting for the next morning hunt. Rancher told me birds were hitting a small pond way back in the pasture. Took 6 decoys and went to check it out. Kicked up about 50, never had time to put decoys out, soon I had my 5 greenhead on the water before a single retrieve was made.

Dad, brother, and I went for our annual Thanksgiving hunt. Lots of birds working, but ice forming kept them from finishing. Ended with 2 greenheads.
