Nice fish guys. My boys can't wait for the ice to leave here so we can get out for some atlantics.

I think my youngest son has this

Wish it was more practical to get you guys over here. The ferry for 5 guys and a pickup is going to be ~900 roundtrip.

Seven hours driving but you have to go straight through Chicago.

Isn't it faster to go through the UP? I don't know where you are in WI, but when we were coming back around from Manitowoc, it was damn near a wash back to Big Rapids, and they are two hours farther North. I would have to think that the UP route is much faster for anyone North of Cadillac.

I think Bill it's just north of Milwaukee. That's where the boat is anyway...

If you time it right, going through Chicago can be done in about 20 minutes. Probably takes about 2 hours off of your trip, if it's done late night.

We're 20 miles north of Milwaukee.

I don't think going through the UP would be faster. Looks like it on the map, but for some reason it isn't.

Depends on how much over the speed limit you want to drive. US-2 across the UP is only 55 where the express ways to the south are 70

Sheboygan appears to be the wash. Any farther South and Chitcago route is faster (pending traffic obviously), any farther North and UP is faster. Funny part is, we took the UP route out of Manitowoc back to Big Rapids because there was a hellacious snow storm rolling through, had been dumping about an inch per hour from Milwaukee straight across into Michigan, was an absolute shit show. UP was getting snow too, but not nearly as bad, so we went North. I'd only been in Michigan about 6 months or so at the time, and had yet to cross the Mackinac bridge. I'll be damned that if it wasn't snowing hard enough when we crossed it that we couldn't even see the pillars when we were right beside them, kinda surprised they even let us cross.

Black drum are related to Red Fish (Red Drum) and they are a saltwater fish. I think you must be talking about a freshwater drum. Red fish and Black drum are both very good eating fish.

We don;t get any drum to speak of here until October or so. But then you can catch those big bastards right out of the breaking surf, in a foot of water. Pretty impressive to see them hit it after following it in through the break.

7/0 SS Mustad in the side of my foot. Had to push it through and cut it myself.

8/0 Livebait hook for tuna fishing (I believe it was a gamagatsu) straight through the palm of my hand. Ended up using a dremel to cut through it.
