Well things started off on the wrong foot... I woke up to sunlight...startled I ripped off all the covers on the bed yelled to my wife to “quick tell me what time it is”! To my horror it was 540... shooting light is 619 and I have a 30 minute drive... so like a monogamous fluffer I didn’t jerk around.

I grabbed my gun, box of shells, 4 decoys, 2 spinners, and my dog... jumped in the truck and drive 90mph to my spot. Got there 10 minutes after opening light chucking decoys as I walked in... plugged both spinners in the mud and ran and squatted behind a bush with Rusty..

Volley One - Three BW Teal swooped in... zero BW Teal flew out... sum bitch I tripled the first volley of the year!

Scratched out another single and missed another...

The heavens opened up and one helluva storm rolled in... I packed up and headed home with 4 in the bag after an hour and 1/2... not a bad start!

I enjoy both shooting and eating them, but watching them buy in beats all in my book. (And something else out there needs the lost bird a lot more than you do.) So I'd say you had a fine morning.

Well teal ended on the 7th and I was able to manage 7 ducks total... I can’t complain since Wisconsin is hardly know for its Teal hunting. Went out 5 days and never got skunked always came home with at least one bird.

It rained for 6 days putting sheet water all over spreading out the birds we had so seeing any was a win in my book.

3 weeks now until regular duck opens and if nothing else it was a good warm up for the dogs and I know what we need to polish up before we do some big duck hunting.

Lord knows I'm spoiled, but if it was just the dog and I, that would be enough. Used to pile up the teal scratches in Ohio and still went as often as I could.
