2019-2020 September Teal:

Blue-wings - 195

Green-wings - 1

September tea total: 196

2019-2020 First Split:

Black-bellied whistling ducks - 3

Blue-winged teal - 33

Gadwall - 22

Green-winged teal - 50

Mallards - 51

Mottled ducks - 14

Pintails - 14

Ringnecks - 10

Scaup - 1

Shovellers - 29

Wigeon - 4

Wood ducks - 4

First Split Total: 235 ducks

Been thinking this the worst first split since the late '80s 3/30 years, but found we actually shot a very few more birds than than the 2017-2018 first split I though it was bumping from that spot. Would that our second split will turn around like that years did.

As with our mottled numbers, that's likely as indicative of how little else we had to work with as anything. Main difference being that most mallards had to be broken off mile high routes and the mottleds tripped up from their puddle jumping. What might otherwise have been ignored became the only game in town.

2019-2020 Second Split:

Black ducks (true northern) - 1

Black-bellied whistling ducks - 2

Blue-winged teal - 24

Canvasback - 1

Gadwall - 18

Green-winged teal - 59

Mallards - 56 (1 banded)

Mottled ducks - 8

Pintails - 11

Red Heads - 2

Ringnecks - 8

Scaup - 1

Shovellers - 32

Wigeon - 6

Second Split Total: 229 ducks (1 banded)

The second split saw the mudhole's third and fourth scratches since I began hunting it in 2006, as well as its worst birds-per-gun average by a substantial margin with 1.3. Having just calculated that average leaves me feeling stunned and sorry as can be for those stuck hunting with me, instead of one of our better little duck blinds.
