Clear coat on decoys

Does anyone use a flat clear coat on their decoys? I got some Cabelas Real Flight decoys as a gift and the paint doesn't hold up at all and I haven't even used them in the field yet. So I got some Krylon flat clear coat and tried it on one decoy and 3 coats helped a ton. Went on flat with no shine, and just wondering what everyone else does.

We use the same stuff (311?) on the burlapped decoys.

I think it's 1311, and I put two coats on 3 decoys each per dozen on some storm fronts and hot buys to test them out last year, and I didn't notice any difference in paint wear. I did notice tho that on the darker ghg hot buys, the clear coat added a noticeable haze.

I just repaint every year. Gives me an excuse to go sit in the shop for hours on end. No sense working yourself right out of some free time. Olly, you're still single, so you haven't learned these tricks yet. But you'll figure it out.

ME:
"Let's go out to dinner"
"Sorry, honey, I have GOT to get these things repainted by next week"

OLLY:
"Let's go out to dinner"
"Ok, honey, sounds good"
(3 hours and $80 later)
"Let's go shopping for a little while"
"Ok, honey, I don't have anything that needs doing, since I clear coated my dekes last year"
(3 hours later, sitting on a bench at the mall, checking in to WFF via iPhone)
"assateague was right- that was a stupid plan"
