Are they?

My first decoys were a dozen of these hand-me-downs that my uncle gave me when I was a kid. They don't have a brand name on them anywhere but a photo on another thread had me wondering if they are Herters. My uncle just used to call them "those goddamn decoys that blow over in the wind".

I've got a few of those too. Do they feel like the are made of hard foam?

The bodies appear to be made of regular ol' white styrofoam.

Yep same with these. I found them in the Sutter bypass after a flood and my mom kept them for home decor.

Those are Herters Clamp. If the bottoms are hollow, that was their "SUC" model. HaHa....no shit that's what they were called.
The foam is not styrofoam but another type of expandable foam and more durable than styrofoam. I think Herters called it Duralon foam. Good find.

Well that name does explain a lot. After a while I figured out that if I submerged the decoy sideways then put it right side up before bringing it to the surface, the hollow bottom created kind of a suction cup effect which kept them from blowing over so easily. Only worked if the heads were on good and tight though.

I would have guessed Herters #72 but, I didn't notice you said hollow underneath. All my Herter #72 have a molded in lead strip(actually a bar, I think). They stay upright, even under extreme friendly fire scenarios. :D
