Had just revisited that yesterday as I often do for our local logs in offseason. That one-handed video/calling got the itch goin as we near the 3-month mark this Friday.

But in the mean time, big time Tigers win last night that I was glad to wake up to, turned it off in the 3rd.

I missed the guys' game entirely, but did watch the Florida State gals who ended our gals' season put Alabama out, as well.

Think my parents are going to head down and tend the boat in event it needs to come out the slip, not anticipating too much water or too high of winds, but still can't ignore it.

This water level is fine for now, high tide is after lunch today. Not till 4.5 ft on this gage that it starts to get problematic for boat on the hoist.

TS Claudette passed west of us Fri night as anticipated, peak winds around the camp were gusts to ballpark of 40 kts, mostly 20-30.

Water was knee deep over the dock, not too terrible. Last year in June we had a storm put mud in the fish cleaning sink, a good 3 ft higher than this one.

Did notice that (quietly) the Weather Channel/Company revised their prediction for this season by scaling it back a storm or two. Interesting move given tropics are pretty active for right now but they're citing below avg water temps in the Atlantic. It only takes one......

I got a surprise wake up, house rumbling @ 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Scared the shet out of us, and my first thought was "home invasion".....wtf?.......as I run downstairs in my underwear with gun in hand, to find out one of the big River Birch trees in my backyard had broken about 4' off the ground, and was pressed against on my house, bowed up under pressure, at the edge of my 1st story roof (over, and next to the hot tub on our patio). Thankfully, my neighbor's Paul Bunyon skills are much better than mine, and with his help, we were able to get it down, and cut up, with out further damage to the house or hot tub
I don't know if it was from the storm passing thru, or the sweet sap in the River Birch, but we had black flies all over the back yard, and they were swarming around the base of the tree where it had been cut. I could not get in and out of my house without watching at least one slip thru the door, even with quick closing. I went and bought some of the fly traps you add water to, and hang nearby, and those thing flat work!!!!!!! Each had a couple of hundred flies in them after the first hour, and I'm curious to see if they disappear, but will have to wait for this rain to quit today.

Damn sure can be :o

What makes it worse, is if you have damage and it is a "named" storm, most insurance deductibles go up for a claim.....the bastards!

The SW la folks are still battling it out with insurance companies these days, hearing of horror stories.

Bad enough to have suffered thru the storms, much less have to fight your insurance company :( The one good piece of advice I received on making a claim many years ago is, "don't forget to add tax" - usually 10%, in the equation on any replacement of household contents, or anything else. You've got to pay it when you replace it!

"Yuck," indeed. But it'll go how it goes.

Picked Mallard Bay Co.'s stuff this morning, and you can tell you're buddies there they need to do a better job of policing up their cripples:

It’s all about the weather we get and the rain driven habitat between us and where they coming from. I’ve seen the worst production years produce the best duck seasons and vice versa. It’s totally out of our control. That has become more abundantly clear than ever before with each passing season.

I'm hoping all that dry habitat to the west moves more of the birds to the east and we get a better number passing by us. I have a very low bar to have a better season than last. I was DNS at ducks in Illinois last year for the entire season :o I feel confident this fall will be a better season
