Date: 11/13/21

Time: finished up around 8:30

Location: marsh

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: NW 10 to 15

Temperature: 40's to 50's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: first time to hunt this particular area and first time on Rod and Robbie's lease....which is going to work out much better than our experiment in northeast Louisiana last year.

Waterfowl Activity: lots and lots of teal in immediate area, big wads with spoons, gadwall, pintail, and fulvous mixed in.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: first hour kind of a flurry then birds started decoying.

Hunters: Rod, Robbie, Doug, and I

Guns: berettas

Malfunctions: Doug had some older xpert shells that causes him a few misfires.

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: 2 teal mojos

Kudos: we decided to pass spoons and lunch at Suire's was great.

curses: too much shooting to finish pintail but not mad about it.

Birds By Species:
1 gadwall
5 fulvous
17 blue winged teal

(Lost our #24 bird, a fulvous)

Date: 11/14/21

Time: packed up at 9:30

Location: Bundick Lake with uncle and cousins (nostalgia hunt with family where I learned to hunt)

Cloud Cover: heavy lake fog until after 7

Wind Direction and Velocity: dead calm to light and variable to light southerly

Temperature: 37 then fast warmup

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: cooked a teal gravy for my uncle and cousins at their camp on lake last night followed by some fire pit time then a good nights sleep before this mornings hunt.

Waterfowl Activity: few wood ducks and that's about it. Lake is best on a big south wind. Planning to come back when I can in the first split or before Christmas and it a pre front big south wind with cousins.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: wood duck came as pretty as they come before sunrise then a ring necked hen came through after fog burned off.

Hunters: me, my uncle mike, cousins david and Jared, and David's fiancé Josey.

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s): David did the retrieving

Special Equipment: couple spinners and 2 wonderducks.

Kudos: just a nice easy morning with family.

curses: none.

Birds By Species:
1 ring necked duck
1 wood duck

Don't know what's different about how you've posted pics these past two times, but they're humongous and only partially showing on my computer unless opened in a separate tab.

Might be more of a nuisance for you to change than me to reopen them, so don't do it just for my lazy self. Was just surprised by it.

Eric,

any insight on what NE La is lookin like right now as far as prospects for this weekend? Presume the aerial survey is going on for that area this week.

Talked to a guy who has pumped water up in Jones and they had no birds as of this past Sunday. I would imagine they are concentrated in Bunkie, on highway 15, and mer rouge...like usual.

The "bunkie/grand cote" area has shown up strong on recent surveys, hoping this one too. We are hunting big slick water this season and I'm really fired up for it. Trying to keep depth down on front cut, < 4-5 inches. Rear cut will be deep as usual when rains come.

Remarked how it was so heavily weighted to green wings in the field today compared to last year where it was 13 BW to 10 GW in the mix. Clearly still some blue on the coast!

Thanks to Hutch for the invite! DC for being a good friend and a pretty good cook. The jambalaya was rocking. And thanks to Moon for what is the 10th year of doing her job reliably and with great passion.

Looking good! Something different with seeing what looks like pine in the camo brush for the marsh. I though for a second you were on Catahoula.

And sleep cuddle with my wife - she typed this part.
