Well, my brothers both have some too. I'm just the outcast with everyone I hunt with. Messing up the pictures.

Date: 12/20/2024

Time: left at 11:30

Location: 86 pit

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: light SW to calm to 5 NW to 10-15 NNW by 9.

Temperature: upper 30's to 40's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: brought a friend I've been wanting to bring last few years for first time.

Waterfowl Activity: pretty good duck flight, mostly all big ducks until about 10:30. Geese from all directions once wind got up but mostly snows and high specks.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: ducks we shot worked great, worked a big Bunch of gadwall that bailed on us with 1 more pass needed.

Hunters: Hutton Chad and me

Guns:

Malfunctions: mojo remotes got wet in storage box so only had Hutton's 1 floater with no remote. Went to Simmons afterwards and got new one. I like to have them when we are seeing lots of high traffic.

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: none

Kudos: Chad brought boudin to cook from Eunice.

curses: none really other than we didn't maximize on 2 of the groups of teal.

Birds By Species:
1 mallard
2 wood ducks (landed in decoys)
7 green winged teal.

Time: Martin and Hutton left at 10:30 and I stayed till noon to enjoy the weather and a chance at late moving birds.

Location: 86 pit

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: NNE 5 at LST and close to 10 by mid morning.

Temperature: 29 to upper 30's by lunch. You could definitely feel the arctic air today that wasn't here yesterday yet.

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Waterfowl Activity: less than yesterday and less working birds, which was a surprise.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: teal came pretty, as well as big ducks.

Hunters: Martin Hutton and I.

Guns:

Malfunctions: none.

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: 2 mojos on remote

Kudos: we shot pretty good on the chances we got. I stayed and was rewarded with a pretty mallard I called in and shot feel down.

curses: bald eagle moved a few hundred specks just west of me and they came by tree top height but eagle was still after them, had 2 break down and give a marginal pass but I wanted them closer.

Birds By Species:
2 mallards
1 gadwall
1 ring neck
7 green winged teal

I asked if she wanted to come today, but she declined. Guess we'll be fortunate to see a duck today.

Date: 1/4/2025

Time: called it at 8:15 and cut brush

Location: 86 pit

Cloud Cover: was hoping the clear would hold on but it clouded from SW by LST.

Wind Direction and Velocity: East 5-8

Temperature: upper 30's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: cut some brush ahead of big storm and wind tomorrow and stored by pit to put to use Monday morning. Saw more geese on the ground in area than I've seen in a few weeks. Seems like they hit the tilled corn on cloudy days.

Waterfowl Activity: was hoping Saturday hunter's would have them stirring but very few stirring.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: 4 teal came by, 2 decoyed. Had a group of gadwall dropping hard before shots ran them off.

Hunters: Hutton and 1

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: none

Kudos: left early and took care of what I needed to. Got home before lunch which is rare.

curses: forgot my shell box which left me without ammo, calls, and mojo remotes, but wasn't much to call at and Hutton is a good duck caller. Glad we didn't have specks any looking.

Birds By Species:

2 green winged teal

Photo Ops: cloudy sunrises make for pretty pictures and slow hunts usually.

Time: Blake and I left at 11:30

Location: 86 pit

Cloud Cover: solid clouds until they broke around 10:30

Wind Direction and Velocity: NW 15-20

Temperature: low 30's to upper 20's to low 30's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: we were pretty excited about the front....

Waterfowl Activity: nothing early except a couple teal and gadwall (locals for sure) high flights from north started around 8 (mostly pintail though, so doubting their newness) geese came from north and east high medium and low

Waterfowl Responsiveness: disappointing ducks, specks worked pretty after sun came out

Hunters: Martin Hutton Blake and I

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s): mostly Blake

Special Equipment: put mojos out once sun cleared but didn't change anything

Kudos: we shot what came except for my half of the 2 specks. Blake cooked deer sausage.

curses: clouds weren't expected as late as they stayed and just no new birds. Maybe tomorrow?

5 green winged teal
2 shovelers

1 snow
1 speck

Nice to see something was moving with the front. Call and I spent an invigorating hour and change walking rice country early this morning without seeing a duck or goose, no matter how hard I scanned the heavens for flights.

Waterfowl Responsiveness: finally got some specks to work late in morning once neighbors left. Had some pintail get close to a shooting pass then leave.

Hunters: Chris and I

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s): we found our 2nd speck which got out of field quickly after tracking where Chris followed him into woods with binoculars, was very happy to recover it.
