Preseason

Postby Ericdc » Fri Oct 17, 2025 6:12 pm

Not a whole lot to report. Rode up to farm this afternoon. We have a tilled rice field. I was told it was beans this year but it was rice. Doesn't really matter with fall tillage. Cut some grass to brush pit next month.

Our rifle season opens next Saturday and it's looking warm. I have some nice deer on camera though. Image

The warm dry October so far has me a little bummed out, seems like it's becoming the norm.

Last wet fall I remember was 2018.

First teal season I've missed this century, just had a lot going on at work and decided to not make the trip south.

It's good to be here.

Workday at lease. Got pit pumped and brushed. Brought a couple dozen goose decoys and left at pit under camo netting. Real good natural cover around pit this year matches the Johnson grass I cut off east side spoil bank.

Several hundred ducks on farm.

Very hot out there.

Water on north side is several inches high, so I pulled 2 boards.

Will probably pull at least 1 more. We want very skinny water on north side for a small speck spread with some FB mallards mixed in.

I like reading that. I was a few miles north of Palistine Texas a couple of weeks ago and heard some robins.

We were able to see the aurora borealis (northern lights) lights last night in north Louisiana. I think this is the first time I've ever seen them in person.
