just a thought if run out of alliant steel and need some powder another good load that works in any temps is with 800x powder and goes right at 1400 fps which is plenty fast...i have used this load for years before the steel powder came out and is more avaible at local gun shops ect....hav used this load with first wads avaible to reloaders was in kits way back when steel shot was first mandated(shot and wadsin kit)..then i used and still have the mec wads..have used rsi 2 3/4 wads also and have tried the 1 1/8 b and p wads also with good results with the 800x..gold medal hull either win209 or cci209m and above said wads with 25 grains of 800x with 1 1/8oz of steel shot.
we load 2's,3''s,4's,b's,bb's and can not forget 1's with this load and have been since the late 80's....with steel powder you can get same velocity as this load with the load that canon likes and seems that it has a percieved less kick per my wife which says that is going to be her only load she wants too shoot at ducks/geese now...I'm asumming that is what you shot and out patterned the factory shells with...
reloads once get into it is so much better then factory shells its really no brainer in long run...have exactly right amount of shot(round not flat ect)/powder in each hull and not have the inconsistancy's of factory and mass producing with speed and volume of shells produced with certain percent of error is ok in each shell....I had some people come and hunt with us this year and left there factory shells in blind and i latter shot some of those shells just to see how factory shells are with new tecnology so they say...but after few shots i went right back to my reloads....and used them for cripples and keeped the hulls for reloading...the factory shells were remington nitro steel 1 1/4oz of 2's and when i shot at the big honkers that normally just roll out with 2 3/4 1400fps of 2's i hit first goose (was falling down hit hard so i thought),went to next goose hit it hard so i thought...to make long story short both geese got up and flew off. chase was on got to both geese they jumped up killed both at same distance stone dead with my reloads(less shot same speed) so it says they are going 1400 with 3" 11/4oz remingtons on box.....patterns way different that was found out when shot into big drift wood snag at 40 yards holes every were with remington factory shells...shot from my remington 1100 with adapted 10 gauge tube...
one thing is your confidence goes way up/plus it nice to say your reloads pounded them up
good shootin
