Truthfully, that's probably plenty for a 100 lb boat. The "650 guidance" as far as weight to power ration was, I believe, based on a 14 foot aluminum jon. I'd be willing to bet if I put a 650 on a 100 pound hybrid, that bitch would go 15 at idle.

My 14' 9" flatbottom has a Merc 45 jet and at 46/4800 rpms will run 32 mph on the river in ( some places ) 6" of water !
It's just the sharp turns , that get a little scary !
