Countdown to AR

Postby Throbbin Rods » Mon Nov 14, 2016 5:40 am

Friday afternoon I leave for my buddy's place 2 hours south, and Saturday at O Dark hundred we hit the road for Arkansas. Hunting 3 days with Jay Cranford. We did this trip 17 years ago so this is a reunion tour of sorts. Neither of us is getting younger so we figured to do it while we still can. Eight lbs of jerky meat marinating to sustain us through the drive. We plan to attend the Duck Calling championship, the Gumbo cookoff, and spend some time at Mack's. We will be driving right past Nashville so will stop and see my oldest daughter and my 2 grandsons for a few minutes on the way down. If any of you guys are near Stuttgart or Brinkley let me know, maybe we could get together for lunch or coffee or whatever.
Later
Bill

First split. Your first two days (Saturday and Sunday) will be epic then you'll wonder where all the ducks went.

On those two first days every hunter in the Arkansas world is out and that will keep the pressure on the ducks all weekend long. By Monday the ducks had enough and have found where the hunters are not.
Could be wrong. 50/50

I quit doing first split. Second split or third are where it's at. Have a good two-day blast.
Don't do any duck-math until you actually have ducks to count. You'll see what I mean. They pile up so quick.

Watch out for the Chinese Buffet in Stuttgart. Their booths are shabby and have nails sticking out that will tear the pants right off your ass when you stand up. Have a good time. The people down there are good in general but there is a dark shady side to Stuttgart that comes out at night. Be aware of that and you'll be fine.

Oh...set a $$$ limit before you walk into Macks or you'll regret it. It's like the giant candy store of duck.

Betty, I know that about Mack's, last time we were there I had to rush my credit card to the ER. I won't be spending much over the actual costs of the trip with Christmas shopping right around the corner.

I've been inside Macks 3 or maybe 4 times. Getting out of there for less than $50 is a huge challenge.
I've been with guys who went berzerk and melted their cards. Them shot caller duck calls literally talk to you when you walk by. BEWARE!
