Weather seems to be late here

In Canada a farmer/beekeeper is noticing his crops are blooming late and its affecting the timing on his honey.
Me too.

I'm noticing that spring starts later and winter drags on longer than usual after it starts late as well.
The January thaw is the January freeze.
Usually here the sweet spot for planting corn is or was 4-25 to 5-5.
Each day before or after that reduces yields on field corn.
I used to plant my garden in the same slot and haven't been able to for a few years now.
Too wet and cold.

Anyone else noticing that their seasons seem to be off by 2 or 3 weeks?
Further north it's more like a month.

Well of course I’m no expert but here in North Dakota which would be south of Canada they planted late due to a wet spring which means things will bloom late and I could be wrong but the harvest will be late.

The three years previous they were planting early like during the spring snow goose season up here.

Here in Illinois, I've felt like Ricardo. I'm about 100 miles due north of el Señor Spanish.

I spend a good chunk of winter in Florida and have done so for the last 6 winters. Where in the past, I would have expected that we would have been froze out and snow on the ground by the time we leave. Hasn't really happened. Typically a pretty hard cold snap earlier than expected to run off the fair weather ducks, but then not the normal weather to move the hardy birds. This year was a very hot May, but the previous two we got snow in May. Some snow in April happens, but May is crazy late. I have early blooming daffodils against my sun exposed foundation, after they bloom, there was always one more light snow. Now, we might have 3 or 4 snows.

BTW, it was a happy accident to put the early blooming daffodils against the sun exposed foundation so they bloom very early. Something to consider for those that like to plant flowers like me.

On a tangent. Not what I expected to see in the flower bed heading to work the other morning.

The cicadas came out late too.
I've started paying attention and the first cicada I heard was around July first not June 10th..
That's weeks late.
Typically around mid June them bugs are buzzing.

My bee hives are spitting bees like there's a war going .
Indicates nectar...usually that's over. I'm kind of just winging it on the honey harvest. Unusual timing.

Typically June 21 or the first day of summer triggers a countdown of say 10-14 days until i pull honey. This year I'm sort of lost. No clue what's going on.
Some years are like that.

Got spoiled on cool and dry.
Oh well. My maters will ripen now.

I just go with the honey flow.
It's hard to gauge it today. Too lazy to look inside one and see. They'll be OK. Monday we'll do more beekeeping.
Wife has time off to do it.

My milkweed garden has already started to turn to seed. Usually that happens in Aug.. We did have lots of bees though.......

This guy is in Manitoba I think.
He's way behind schedule as is most every beekeeper in north America.
I'm 3 weeks behind.
He's more like a month.
