Illinois Split Seasons

Coming 2026 I got my split seasons. Not exactly what I want, but we got a little more time at the end of the season which was my number 1 desire.

In the North Zone, the first season will be a 2-day Saturday/Sunday season starting on the same Saturday as it currently does. I wish they would have pulled this forward. Then it's 5 days off and restart the next Saturday and goes to the end. This really has zero impact on me as we are froze out normally well before the end. But it is good for the river guys.

In the Central Zone, where I hunt by the cooling lake, start the same Saturday, run until the 3rd Sunday in December, take 5 days off then start the next Saturday and run until early January. So 5 days pushed from when good hunting usually starts until what is usually even better. One more weekend with minimal benefit. Probably get perfect weather the week off. Don't know why they did this so late. I'm pretty sure it is the flooded corn guys that hold a ton of sway.

Almost the most insignificant change they could make. It did give the weekend guys one more weekend.
