Kid just went on a rampage with a knife and put a few kids in the ICU and hurt up to 20 more.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

They are gonna need to start putting metal detectors in all schools. Really ridiculous, elementary, middle, high school and college. These crazy kids turn into crazier adults which is why I carry at all times.

It's interesting how the harder we as a society try to control everything...the less control there is.
I bet we could sell a lot of body armor to school aged kids in Pittsburg this week.
Their parents would be such easy sells. Could use the line "you want your child to be as safe as possible? Buy this."

Id like to see how that works out. The politicians wanted to change knife laws on planes cause it was to much of an inconvenience not getting to have one.

Damnit. The problem is not a legal one that can be fixed with words on a paper (law) . If it were that easy Julius Caesar never would have been assassinated. The Romans had much more power than our govt does and they couldn't protect one man.
Give up on the whole idea of "we'll just make a new law".

They keep scissors in the office. Better hope the secretary don't get any crazy ideas. Imagine her slashing up kids as the school nurse goes around stapling everyone's wounds shut with the office stapler.

Wonder what their stance on 80% blades will be?

Good one.

You know, if we'd made similar comments in TOS we might get banned for making light of serious news.

Exactly. Which is why the focus needs to be on STOPPING it after it starts rather than preventing it. Because preventing it is a fool's errand, but allowing people to carry if they want is easily doable. But try telling that to some ivory tower liberal, with little grasp of reality.

Now if half the teachers were cc'ing this would have ended after just a few kids were stabbed. I am surprised the media is even covering this since there was no gun involved.

Damn straight. I bitch plenty about AZ. But I never go out with my family in fear of being shot up in a mall or movie theatre because it can guarantee myself and others will be shooting back.

Woa, woa, woa...where's the profit in that solution? EVERYTHING must profit or it's not worth doing.
No profits? IT AIN'T HAPPENING. The kernel of this entire 'violence' problem is that people aren't satisfied and freak out when they perceive that there are no viable solutions to their problems and needs. So they "go postal" at the school.

Crime prevention is big business. How dare you try and say it's futile. @
They can probably prove someone somewhere prevented a crime once.

"Bullying" is the big buzz-word this year so I'd bet the news media will somehow tie this crime to that issue.

You know, the thing that bothers me the most is I, and probably many people, am not surprised things like these are happening anymore. It's almost like you expect it every week; some other mentally disturbed idiot went on a rampage, it's something new every week. It's really disturbing...

The last time I had a crime committed against me...the cop said something profound. She said that I needed to quit being a victim.

In other words it was my fault my shit got stolen and all the responsibility was on me. "Go away, you bother me".

That's the problem and the thing that cop didn't realize was that she REALLY pissed me off and I had 8 more guns.
Lucky for you guys I'm not as crazy as you think.

While I agree with you (mostly), there is a need in our country for a review of our mental health system.

It cant be prevented by outlawing inanimate objects, but clearly anyone willing to commit crimes like this is mentally unstable, and some of them could be prevented if you were not handicapped by laws regarding the insane.

Some, yes. But what happens when one happens? I know of NO situation like this that is not stopped by anything other than someone with a gun. So why not let people carry? The fact is, the quicker a gun in a good guy's hand shows up, whether cop or bystander, the quicker these things stop. Treat mental illness, lock up the crazy, put up metal detectors, I don't care. But don't attempt to legislate guns out of the hands of those who can stop this.

Haven't you been to DC?!?! I don't want the whole world metal detectored up like that. Load of fucking bullshit that was explaining that boots have steel in them and being patted down every time I wanted to enter a building. No thank you.

So we would be talking open carry only, since concealed would be rendered useless.

If every time you go into a building you have to pull your gun and show them your ID. Its not concealed anymore. People around you know its there. I highly doubt it'll be a flash your Concealed Carry Card and they'll just take it at that and let you move along after you set off the alarm.

Oh, I see your point.

True, but if some lunatic comes in shooting, he'll have no clue who has a gun and who doesn't, since it'll go back in your carry holster. And if it was easy, chances are pretty good that he'd be either shot dead or keeping his head down, thereby rendered useless, if more people had guns.
