3/4 ton truck. Gas or diesel?

After just picking up my new camper and pulling it home, I think I am going to stick with my half ton truck. On the way home I was pulling the 5k pound trailer into a 15 mph headwind and got 12 mpg for 125 miles of driving. The engine stayed at 2500 rpm's and only downshift a handful of times for the entire trip. I can live with that.

It's a small enough camper and it's not like ND has any hills. You will be good. I'd still suggest a 20ton tractor for pulling the 40' boat you will need for Devil's lake.

And when going the other way you'll get twice the mileage from the tailwind!

Jeep is about 1700 at 60, my Dodge 1500 was about the same. But it was a piece of shit, and if the wind was blowing wrong would scream at about 2500 just trying to do 50. Piece of shoe.

My dad just pulled his 26'er to Yellowstone and back with his 1/2ton gasser. He said mileage sucked but he could run 70+ everywhere except the mtns.

Really? My ford would be at home there. 55 mph is my new life these days.
