I didn't have the Internet in college. While I'm old, I'm not THAT old. Amazing how times change. We had the good old fashioned card catalog, to find books, which may or may not apply to what we were writing. Looking back on it, it must have sucked, but not knowing any better certainly made it seem pretty easy. Ignorance is bliss.

Pulled an Assa and went with the Corn Cob as my first pipe. Going to hit this place called the Tinder Box tomorrow to get some tabbaco, supposed to be the best shop in town.

We had a tinder box up here. If it's a chain store, that place is terribly expensive...hopefully it's a small shop that you don't get screwed on.

You bought a pipe, and no tobacco? I don't think I could wait after a purchase like that...

Looks good

I ran to the local Walgreens for a 9V battery for the smoke detector and it was behind the counter marked down to something like 2 bucks. I didn't grab any tabbaco there because I wanted to try some top shelf stuff from that Tinder Box joint tomorrow.

I've got to get in on this. Maybe I'll go the blown glass pipe route just to mix it up.

I prefer the Captain Black vanilla. Pretty tasty, and relatively cheap.

I know nothing about choosing a pipe tobacco. I know enough to know the difference between aromatics and traditionals. So I'm going to go into this shop and just get a run down of the basic brands and levels of quality.

Yea I watched a youtube video. Geezzzzz

Really I learned watching my grandfather smoke a pipe for a long time when I was a kid and I think that's part of why I'm drawn to it. Sitting around watching him smoke and listening to war and prison guard stories for hours made my childhood.

I remember sneaking into his tabbaco drawer and opening and smelling all the different blends.

Packing and lighting a pipe is an art. Only use matches, you need a tamper to repack after its lit, a 20 penny common nail is my favorite tamper
