That's Canada, not Michigan.

In 5 years I was pulled over once in MI and 3 or 4 times in CA (never getting a ticket oddly). The U.P. is barren of cops for the most part.

Aren't most of the cops up there tribal police?

They stayed on the reservation. Only time they'd come off was to pick up a tribal member doing something funny out in white people land.

I saw a jeep that was being driven by a Mexican today. Had to double check the tags...Illinois. The guy couldn't drive on snow worth a damn so I yelled at him to engage the 4x4. lol
I thought for a second it might be Assa but naaa, I bet he can drive on snow.

Assa doesn't use 4x4. Too much fuel consumption. He'd feel better about a tow from a ditch...

I hate 4x4 in snow. I'm always in 2 unless it's too deep.

I do the opposite.
Why? In 4x4 your wheels all provide better stopping power on ice and snow. I like the way you can use the engine to brake by down shifting.
I also throw it in 4x4 on levees in rice fields so I don't tear up the levee and get kicked off a lease.
Street tires on purpose. Have seen what mud tires do to a levee when some kid goes ripping through on roids.

That's just me I guess.

I prefer two wheel too, I don't turn 4x4 on until I'm stuck.

never thought of that before but there might be something to that. i can say i've never once seen a jeep (traditional style) here in Montana.

They are light and have a short distance between the front and back axle. If you start spinning there isn't no stopping it. My buddy had one and sold it after the first winter.

If you'd put it in 4x4, it'd be just like bring 30 on a blacktop road. And waiting until you're stuck is stupid.

So a pickup with 47 pounds over the drive wheels is a better option because it has a longer wheelbase? Now that's just silly.

Go get you some yooper snow and then talk about 2WD.

Yup.

If it's too deep to go in 2wd then obviously I use 4wd.
Around town after a snow storm I never put in 4. Going down seasonal roads up north with over 2' of snow it goes in 4 and usually put the chains in the front end.

Just because it gets a little slick doesn't mean you need 4WD.

Back end of a jeep only has to slide a few feet before your past the point of no return. With a truck you have a LOT more play with your backend before it gets too far around to stop it.

Hell yes. You lock that shit in beforehand and get it. Also if you load down the bed of a truck your aces.

I drive on ice. I have no idea what the fuck this "snow" is other than my brief experience with it 2 months ago.

Ok. The corollary to that is that due to the shorter wheelbase, a Jeep is less likely to begin the spin in the first place. So you're arguing that it's better to have a vehicle which is MORE inclined to spin, because it can spin further before reaching the point of no return. I see.
