It was going to be on the north side of the house, because that's where all the plumbing is, so that probably wouldn't work. Dammit.

Yeah, I've got some thinking to do yet. This is still the thinking-only stage, not even to the drawing board yet. I've done some pretty dumb shit, and there's a big chunk of me that wants to add "build personal water tower" to that list.

Just put a windmill up that goes down your 4ft well since your water table is 12" down. Attach a pump and there is your pressure. Can't imagine you get ground frost too bad do ya?

As for when there is no wind, put the donkeys to work turning a pump

a windmill isn't impermeable, so they'd tax that part of it.

I looked into traditional windmills a couple years back. They are insanely expensive. $30K or so. Nuts.

Get a rear bicycle wheel. Start welding fins (fenders from other bikes) on and save the chains and sprockets.
