That is still over a box of shells per week for nearly 30 weeks in a row, week in and week out. For a hunter (not a guide), even a retired hunter, that is a lot. I know people do it.

Most years I hunt from around Sept 1 (early goose) until early March (spring snows). In my best year, I might have gone through a case with half that shot at snow geese. It's a pile of shells and just blows my mind. Also makes me very jealous.

Although I shoot noticeably less shells now that I lost my dog. Because it was my dog, I was shooting a disproportionate amount of the cripples.

I went through 3 1/2 cases last year and ended up with close to 400 birds. Between loaning shells out and cripples they go fast.

Like I said, it blows me away and makes me jealous. The last 10 years I am somewhere around 220 critters (ducks, geese, pheasants, bunnies, deer, ...) That's for all 10 years combined.

Illinois in the Chicago suburbs. This is not the place to kill large numbers of ducks. There are guys that do a lot better than me, but not a lot, especially those with a job. Access is tough, and if you get the right place you can limit on Canada geese almost daily and kill quite a few more ducks at the right time. I also archery hunt quite a bit.

I'm a pretty diehard hunter, but I don't see me ever hunting waterfowl that many days. I like to mix it up. I missed a monster buck last year with the bow. That added to my already increased archery hunting drive. Calm days I deer hunt. Windy days I waterfowl hunt.

(1) canoe, (4) kayaks, (1) flat bottom, (1) layout, (1) 14' deep v tender boat, (1) 22' deep V, part owner in a sail boat, and I'm probably going to buy a speed boat or jet ski soon.

That is if we can include "family" boats otherwise remove the 22 and 2 kayaks.
