are those G&H goose floaters. Look nice. Prices for floating goose decoys these days are hilarious. If I ever need any, I'm just converting my shells.

No they are flambeaus. I also just realized their heads spin so I can make it look like there is something really interesting going on in my spread.

And yes the prices on goose decoys are nuts. Had a guy call a few days ago and had a dozen almost new floaters and he wanted $250 for them. The worst part was I actually had to think about it because it was a good deal.
Picked up the dozen I got for $40 though.

I've got a pair of those. One of them has the keel the other doesn't. Pretty good decoys for motion but without the keel its a bitch to figure out what to do with the decoy line.

I'm trying to figure that part out right now. I think I'm going to just have some Texas rigs hooked to a 5" longline clip that will just hook to a loop on the decoy.

That sounds like a good plan. Also they can be a bitch if you throw them out, instead of setting them out. Takes a little practice to get it down.

I had them out with the wind blowing about 20 mph once. It was on a pond not a lake so the waves weren't terrible. They are pretty stable, had some close calls but have yet to see them flip.

I'm hoping, but not holding my breath that they will stand up to 1' waves or so.

If I'm not mistaken you can flip the neck around and put the head on the other end making them feeders.

Yup. The dozen I already have are stationary sentry heads, so these will probably all get turned around to feeders.

I don't call divers. They either want to come in or they don't. Always cracks me up hearing everyone along the shoreline start highballing every time a flock of divers go buzzing 1/4 mile off shore.

I call buffies in with the whistle occasionally, but you're right, it is funny. A flock of cormorants going by is usually good for at least two different competition routines from the knuckleheads out there, also. Shit cracks me up.

The cormorants are great during early goose. I will give it too the guys that call at them...they do kinda look like geese and respond better to a goose call than a goose does.

You don't hail divers, or quack, you bbrrrrr to them. It does work to at least get them looking. Like any calling, it doesn't work 100% of the time but, 60% of the time it works 100% of the time. You'll have to factor in the 50/50 on some days though.

With buffies, I tweet the whistle (more a tweet than a brrrr, but sort of both), and it works more often than if expect.

I don't plan to shoot it a whole lot. But yes that's what had me etchy about the deal. But the guy ha only fired 23 shells. Still lots of barrel life left. Main use will be or hunting.

Probably but I'll eventually sell it. It's actually really fuckin' accurate but it takes for ever for that scale to settle. I'd be happy to get $35 for it. I just bought it as a quick buy to sell.
