I will be ready to use my new Power Hunter. I found a deal on a couple of seat pads. One to sit on, one to rest my back on.

I hate those reports. How many people had a bad year two years ago, and didn't hunt last year?

They should report birds harvested vs. days hunted to determine a success rate. Total numbers can be very misleading...

So what you're saying is we likely won't be spending much time pheasant hunting? How long is your season open before the NCH? I'm sure you should be able to have a pretty good handle on the population by then?

Will be open for a month. I'll find birds somewhere. If someone has never shot a wild pheasant or quail, I'm sure I could get them a shot or two.

I've killed plenty of pheasants, will likely kill plenty more, don't get much quail action anymore though, would be fun to get into a covey or two...

I'm not against grinding some upland, especially if quail are in the mix.

Oh well, easy come, easy go.

The good news is duck hunting should be good.
All most as important, better coyote hunting this season. I saw one this morning on my drive in.

If farming practice continues, pheasant hunting in KS wont be as good as it was in the past. Dont worry Jarbo I am happy to teach you the art of predator calling. You wont miss those pheasants.

Appreciate the offer! I hear you can hunt yotes with a dog too, outside the US, Griffs are used for that too.

There are a couple of ways to hunt them with dogs.

I have a friend in WY who uses ANY dog as bait....he keeps a dog with him during breeding season, the yotes get all territorial and come after the dog. He has used Jack Russell terriers, hounds, britts, etc...He has used many dogs that way.

His favorite was, believe it or not, a big goofy lab that didnt mind very good. He says that it attracted lots of coyotes because it was very active. He killed lots of coyotes with that lab.

UPDATE: It rained LIKE HELL on Jarbos hunting area last couple days....heavy rains, some close to 4 "

Do we have official date for this yet?
