As far as the dog food question, I'll give you my OPINION. It's not allowed at my house! From what I've seen, some dogs have very peculiar stomachs. If they don't eat the same foods consistently it will give them the screaming shits. Just swapping brands of dog food can trigger it. Being I have a lab and a malinois in the house, I don't need a dog with the shits that can't wait for me to come home to let them out. When you are feeding dogs the same foods that you eat, you are taking too big of a chance of feeding them something that's not going to set well with them. Also, there are certain foods that also give them extremely bad gas. If my malinois steals a pork chop for example, it's all we can do to stay in the house with him. However, it does give me a lot of opportunities to blame it on the dogs so I don't have to listen to my wife gripe. There are a lot of recipes online for making homemade dog food for people that want to go that route. It just seems to expensive for me to do though.
