I meant to get in touch with you. We came through late in the afternoon and I doubt my dad and uncle would have wanted to stop, even for a hunt. Couldn't beleive how many mallards we didn't shoot. Other years they have made up easily half the bag, this yea we shot 5. We've maybe shot 3 or 4 widgeon there in the 6 years I've been going and this year we shot almost twenty. Gadwalls and ringers were there like always. Saw lots of pintails but couldn't get them down.

No biggie, didn't miss anything here, nothing but field hunting. Everything including the river has been locked up around here. Definitely make a point to stop by next year, hopefully without a Polar Vortex!

Good eye, we were just close enough to your turf as to not start trouble.
Cedar Vale area. Winfield lake keeps the surrounding area well stocked, especially when the small water freezes up.

Thats a little further west than I usually go. I think ive said it before, but next time yall are in KS and want to do some hunting down in my corner, give me a shout. Ill even put you up for a few days.

After we cleaned them we cursed ourselves for not keeping those two cans. They were studs. I should have kept that drake widgeon too. I'm never going to get a better one. Not going to Texas anytime ever so the chances are pretty much zero.
Also shot a goldeneye in full war paint. Should have got him mounted. We don't see many down there.
