I have to type up a poem for Monday. It has to be about an abstract noun such as hope, sadness, horror etc. etc. here's what I have so far. I don't think it's all that great but then again I'm not poet writer.



Fear

Fear goes from a deep, dark red and to blue to a deafening black and white that turns into a deathly faze of hazy purple and grey.

It can be a 123 grain slug whizzing past you skull at an astonishing and blistering velocity of 2,600 FPS.

The sounds can be sudden and deafening, leaving you dazed with confusion and horror.

The stench of fear can be deathly and awakening, especially if your buddy just went down.

At one moment, it tastes like humidity and sunshine, the next it tastes like dirt, sweat, and gunfire.

The only touch you have with fear is the touch of a former soldier slung over your shoulder as your running like hell to safety.

I don't care if I have to read the thing in front of everybody. Maybe it'll turn some kids idea around about going to war. Maybe this will show them how bad war is to a human. Or I'll look like an Emo kid.

It's got some good stuff going on, Rex, but I think you'd be better at writing a poem about something you've actually experienced. Seriously.
