What was the name of that app you said you used for GPS? All I can think of is "Turnkey Outdoors", and I know damn right that's not it.

It's handy as hell. At BM it wasn't much use. No internet but it still made Trac. I got home, pulled it up and damned...there was a fucking hole...about 300 yards from my camp. No wonder them gw's hit me. They thought I was walking in to bayou meto, and I could have.

Trimble works with the satellite images. The maps are basically that. Its a really good app but not perfect. For $5 its a bargain

Damned, I zoomed in on the tracks I made at bayou meto...you can see where I was wandering around gathering wood. I must have got Trimble running, buried it by opening messaging or something and forgot it was running .
It tacked me all over that place .

If you get the upgrade it allows you to download the map of an area for offline use. Works good when I'm turkey hunting and don't have reception

I may get the upgrade in a while, but most of where I'd be using, I won't need a map on the water. And the area is so flat, that a topo map would look like a sheet of printer paper.
For now, I'm just trying to figure out how to get the damn thing to work. I tried it this morning on my trap line, and I didn't get a track, I got what looks like a string line from my house to my first farm. Not following the roads or anything. When I "navigated to starting point", I guess technically it would have got me there, but it was still like a string on a thumbtack, which was on my house. Ok for roads, I guess, but not much use in a marsh. I'd like to be able to follow an actual track. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Need to find a YouTube tutorial I think.

It's not going to do what AT wants.
AT, hate to say it but what you want is the el cheapo Garmin Etrex 10.
The bottom of the line model. It does what u want. I have a Vista and it's too nice. Don't do like the etrex 10.
I want an etrex 10 badly. Have used one before and it's too ez

Here's what I want:
Go scout a couple spots in the marsh in the summer. Mark the tracks from launch to spot.
Go back in the dark 3 months later. Pick one. Thing will show me the track, and where I currently am on it. Can follow it backwards out.
Don't care if it's overlayed on a map or on a piece of notebook paper, as long as the track with twists and turns is displayed. Don't care if it has coordinates or not- not gonna try and get anywhere using coordinates, will only go where I've already been. Don't care if it gets me within 10 feet- 25 is plenty close enough. Don't care if it can download maps- I'm not gonna use that.
Can I do that with this app, or am I screwed?

Nope. I don't have to haul $5 buckets of food 3 times a week for a roost shoot.

I don't haul buckets, just 40-50lb sacks every couple of weeks. They just keep coming in kind of like roosting but they don't eventually go somewhere else and it don't get dark on you.

You don't have to stop when it gets dark....

Ok. Looks like in gonna have to drop some jingle. Flight, I looked at the Motion X app, and I'm not sure it does what I want. From what I said, you think it'll work? Also, does it burn up my data plan while using it? I've got two females and a father in law on my plan, and I've been busting the bank the last two months. If so, an app might not be the option for me. I could have the Harmon paid for in two months of data overage fees. Fuckers.

Not sure Assa, I remember using motion x on my phone and following tracks with it. It overlays the tracks onto satellite image. It runs of gps but can't say for sure about data. I remember being way back on a river with no signal and as long as I had my map saved it would work. Sure the one you have now won't work?
