The Great Depression?

I came across this on the other site. Normally, I don't care much for those "parallels of history" type things. But this chart is pretty darn spot on, comparing the Dow Jones Industrial average in 1928-29 to today. So identical it's scary. Looks like it's all going to crash down in March. Only a few more weeks, and I can start putting my stockpiled bullets to work.

black tuesday was in October, so we're good for a few more months

it looks like that data was for the mini crash in March, 1929.

That number is just set by some guy anyways. Think he'd let it do that on his watch?

1. Real estate speculation (bubble collapsed)
2. Easy Credit
3. Everyone was/is in the stock market
Those are the three factors that led up to the great depression.
Exactly.

Now...what event triggered the end of the great depression?
We are about to have #3.

we gotta have at least one more big "cool" mechanized battle before we run out of oil. Probably over the oil.

Not that, it's debatable what ended The Great Depression.

No, the chart lists the dates for now. The dates for 28/29 don't correspond, just the trajectory of the lines.

so is there much speculation going on now? and how is the credit scene?
and the end of the GD was our involvement in producing a ton of wartime shit for Britain to keep them afloat.

Credit has been artificially expanded for at least 20 years now, but the last 6 or so have been insane. Between the fed offering free money to wall st, and everyone from credit cards to car manufacturers offering free money to consumers, it's hideous.

admittedly, i know very little about the credit system. i actually just got my first credit card this last summer, and hardly use it. I've always thought it was a bullshit way to manage money.

If used properly, a credit card is a great way to build credit. Meaning dont go and rack up 5k in debt then make the minimum payments forever.

yeah, i don't plan on doing that. about the most i ever need is a 500 buck limit anyway. I was paying everything off too fast so i wasn't building any credit, so now i carry a small balance to try and build up.

Right there with ya. Pretty bad when "societal collapse" is a fairly attractive alternative.

Be very careful. I had these ideas when I first got a credit card. Now my whole tax refund is going to get me out of credit debt this year, then all ill owe is 4500 bucks on my truck. Never again with the credit card though.

I said "never again" to the credit cards about 20 years ago. And now my credit is shitty because I don't owe anybody anything.
Like I said, societal collapse is a pretty good alternative to the fucked up system we have going now.

My dad had really good credit with a very small amount of debt a few years ago, then they started lowering his credit limits bc he wasn't using it, which made his debt to card limit ratio go way up, And his credit score went way down. So he told them to fuck off and stopped paying it. The debt has been sold off several times now and every time they get to a court date they drop it and sell the debt to someone else.

I'm actually looking forward to it. It'll be open season on all the fuckers we've been bitching about all these years.

I can't believe Americans still buy in to that bullshit. Do you realize how ridiculous that is? If you keep good credit, you'll have good credit.
Don't build credit, save up for what you want and/or need.
The credit treadmill is exactly why our finances are where they are, as a country and as a planet.

Its worked for me. I built up my credit to a 750 score by being responsible and keeping a low balance on just one card. Not spending outrageously amounts of money on it and paying the bill on time. The only debt i have is a truck bill and that 1 credit card. Perhaps its not the best plan to follow for everyone, but its worked for me.
