So, dog sitting my best friend's puppy tonight. He and his wife went to dinner at another friends house. I went to the local watering hole and left my dog and his dog (5 months old) in my truck. Outside temp was around 20*. Every 20mins to half hour I went out to start the truck, let them out, play with them and all around make sure everything was kosher. I was at the bar for 2 and a half hours. Went out to check on them again and his dog is gone! My dog is there. Being the local watering hole, I run back inside and tell everyone that I know (including the band) that Gary (yes, thats his name) is missing. At this point around 15-20 people pile out of the bar to look for the dog. Around 10 mins go by and we can't find the dog (I am absolutely losing my mind).
So I call my buddy to tell him the situation.

At this point he tells me he took the dog on his way home and proceeded to give me a ration of shit that I didn't take care of his dog.

So I pose the question, who's the douche bag?

Me for not taking care of his dog, or him for not telling me that he had the dog?

If you agreed to take care of some ones dog. You don't leave that fucking thing in a truck while you sit in a bar. I'd take my dog back and not say anything to you. Sorry bro. You're a first class Dbag.

Did you miss the part when I said I checked on the dog every 20 minutes?

Oh, and I left out the part about my truck being locked. Which in hindsight I should have known that he took his dog because he has a key to my truck.

To me. I don't care. That's not watching the dog in my eyes. But then again I think of my dog as my kid. Shit, I don't even like leaving my dog in the truck when we go to breakfast after duck hunting. "Watching some ones dog." Usually means it's at your place not in a car while you're at a bar.

His dog is just a pup, was found in a Wal-mart parking lot at 3 weeks old, he's like 4 months now. Sill getting house broken.

Being crate trained at 5 months old? My dogs were crate trained and pretty much house trained by 14-16 weeks.
I'm not gonna say you're a douche bag for taking the dog to the bar with you and leaving him in the truck, but you probably shouldn't have done that.
The whole situation is dumb though. If that dog can't stay in its crate for. couple hours your buddy has been babying him.
