Tonight, I went to Don Taylor's Delta Waterfowl banquet. Don did a great job on the banquet. The wife and I had a great time. I am the new proud owner of a Delta Waterfowl camo hat, plastic cup, very nice wicker picnic basket set with blanket (picture included), Hardcore blind bag and... A numbered Delta Waterfowl edition (the last one offered ever) of the Beretta A300 for the low low bid of... Drum roll... $850.

Don't have a picture of the gun yet. I have to pick it up after the background check.

Nice to hear Don's hard work is paying off. When you fail the background check, I'll come get the gun.

It's funny you mentioned failing the background check. It was something the chairman mentioned a few times.

Last year's banquet, I missed out big time. There were a couple of nice guns that went for big bargains. That was the first banquet I had ever been to. I didn't know what to expect. I kicked myself for not being prepared. This time, if there was a nice gun and the deal was good, I was going for it. My wife was sitting next to me when they opened the auction. She asked me "you're getting another gun are you?". I told her this was a great deal. She said OK. I was getting it anyway but, I was surprised at her response. Even though the Beretta is weighted better than my SBE 2, I won't hunt with it. The Benelli is my work horse. There were a couple of pieces of furniture we didn't bid on but liked. We just don't have the space in our small house.

Don has done a great job in SW PA. There aren't a whole lot of waterfowl hunters but, he managed to bring some people in spite of the competition with the snooty DU chapter in the area.
