Fathers family immigrated to USA from Germany when WW1 got going.
My mother's family came over from England before the American revolution.
No Irish here.

You don't have to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, it being a national holiday and all.

The potato famine in Ireland was Gods way of spreading Catholicism throughout the world, especially the new world. So you might as well thank God for Irish Cops, Irish Priests, Irish Gangsters and Irish Politicians. And while you are pondering the mysterious ways and whys of the things God has visited upon us, you might as well have a drink or two to help figure it out.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

St Patty's day was invented by a bar, in New York, in 1994.
It's an American holiday.

America today.

I still don't see how you can have partial nationality, unless you have one parent from one country and another from a different country and hold dual citizenship. There you're 50/50 in a different way. No 1/32s

How about partial ethnic? Take African Americans. They claim ethnic and national status.

While "African American" is a phrase that annoys me, it makes more sense. Hispanic American, Asian American... At least there is a race tied to it. But being "part Irish" does not make sense. If you don't hold citizenship in Ireland you aren't Irish at all. It's not a race, it's a nationality.
Caucasian or white is your race.
