I have yet to shoot a 17. Granda got one last summer, along with a Glock, and we haven't been out to the range yet with them.

So what's going on with ep? Are they never going to sell the 80% lowers again? I have heard a few things but haven't the time to read up on anything more than what assa posted.

As of right now they have suspended sales. Think their inventory may have been confiscated as well. But they plan to go back into production as soon as the ATF stops being a bunch of assholes.

The thing that really gets me is that THEY SAT DOWN WITH THE ATF IN 2012, SHOWED THEM WHAT THEY WERE DOING, AND THE ATF SAID "FINE". Now they just randomly "change their mind". That is a huge crock of bullshit.

I agree. That irks me too. The ruling has already been made.

That's the defense that will get everyone that purchased the Lower off of any charges.

Who are they trying to get them to go state's evidence on? They're the manufacturer.

Their customers. "The list" is evidence.

Our govt. can not tolerate a bunch of guys having semi-auto rifles that don't have serial numbers.
Someone made a HUGE mistake in saying it's ok to make these 80% lowers.
Think about it...any fucking Baghdad Rag head can order one and assemble it inside the US.
NOT JUST YOU HONEST HUNTER TYPES.
Why the hell do you think I didn't buy one?

Take it further...suppose Joe needs some cash and sells me and ar15 without a serial number. Even if he got it legally and I'm legal...how do you identify that firearm.
Its a class x felony to remove serial numbers in Illinois. If you have one of these no serial # AR's I don't want to see or touch it. Capeesh?

One step further.
Anyone who bought one did knowingly purchase a firearm with intent of it being without a serial #. That's a criminal act and y'all should know better. Gee whiz

Betty, I'll say it one more time:

Per the ATF, it is perfectly legal to make a firearm for yourself. With no serial number. This is directly from the ATF website and documents. The only thing you may not do is sell it. Not sure why you don't grasp that. Methinks you've been in IL too long, and have become institutionalized.

I'm not perfect.
The "sell it" point is what I was trying to point out.
Once you have one...you can't sell it so by the AT definition you don't actually own it.

Quoting ATF from the internet isn't really any proof of anything. They lie. They change their rules and cheat.
Its the gubment. You sure you trust anything they print online?

X2

Betty, just stop. You don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about. I can make a lower from scratch. Guaranteed. Should nobody be allowed to own a hunk of aluminum? Or plastic? Or steel? The line has to be drawn somewhere. 80% complete is where they drew it.

You just may. Or you may not. Let's say someone who doesn't like to be labeled a criminal gets angry that the ATF is changing the rules and trying to back charge him with a crime, which in and of itself is illegal and would never hold up in court. This person would be one of thousands in the same predicament. He would realize that alone against the big bully, his chances of victory are precarious. This guy would be smart enough to realize there is power in numbers. He would immediately contact a lawyer. Then he would start to plan on finding a gun rights lawyer that is willing to take on the ATF representing hundreds if not thousands of defendants. It's easy to railroad one guy. It's a whole lot harder to do so if many guys stick together and are represented properly.

Owning a gun in your state may be illegal per the laws of your state. In mine and most others, it is not if you build it yourself. It was just recognized as legal by the ATF because the ATF did not confiscate and is still permitting to sell the aluminum 90% lowers sold by EP that also do not have serial numbers.
