Assa did you float away?

Postby Baysider » Mon Aug 27, 2012 8:24 am

Did you guys get the rain we did Saturday? We ended up with 9.5" for the day and several tornados and water spouts. One of my co workers fathers had his 50 ft charter boat picked up and tossed against the dock cracking the transome and several crab houses got knocked down. The main back road running from my place to Onancock got washed out too.

Yeah, we got 11 2/10" on Saturday, and another 2" last night. It's a little "moist" around here, but nothing down aside from a couple tree limbs. I tried to get down to Assateague to see how a couple of my blinds fared, but the road was closed, so I couldn't get in. Had some friends down who wanted to go clamming, so we went Saturday anyway. Clammed for 2 1/2 hours in an absolutely pouring rain, something I'm not going to do again anytime soon.

Feels like a greenhouse outside right now.

Yea I'd say its a bit moist outside. Glad you faired ok through it. Seems we got all of our rain in one day for the year. We got a little more yesterday. We were on the creek culling oysters and had the boat loaded with about 30 bushels. It was safer to keep working and ride it out than it was to get under way with all the weight in the boat when the thunderstorms hit. It wasnt much fun though. The water is as cloudy as coffee after all the run off. Last week we saw a 6ft bull shark on the oyster grounds and yesterday something big was swimming around but the water was too cloudy to tell what it was. What a great feeling. I think its time for an over night shark fishing trip in case he's made himself at home.

I'm officially writing off the garden. The weeds are waist high with all this rain, and as wet as it is, I won't be able to get in there until Thursday. And by then, it'll be too late.

I wish it would rain like that here...it pretty much rained all Friday night and on and off all day Saturday, but it was just a light drizzle. Only got around an inch.

Clear, hot, and humid here today. We have the normal chance of thunderstorms of course.

MO that rain you got is much better. A hard pounding rain on very hard dry ground just runs off. Id much rather have a lighter steady rain than to have the sky open up like we did.

NO THANK YOU

You guys can keep your sharks and hurricanes. I'll take the snow.

I like fishing shark. Don't matter to me what kind they are. I would have had some pitbull puppies out for bait.

They are gone now. Although, typically the purpose of bait is to keep what is not attached to the line when you toss out the hook. Plus he's talking about walking around playing with them. I'll throw out a line for one any day if I'm in a boat or on shore.

While no Michigan, I'll fish Mille Lacs which is no puddle. Not having ever had access to anything bigger than a 14 foot boat makes it more "fun".

We've had our normal one or two drizzle rains this summer probably equal to .25", did I mention I live in what they consider high desert?

We have been dry dry dry. Then Debbi came and boy was she wet. Now Issac has sent us rain most of the day. Most lakes are getting back to more normal water levels.
