A buddy of mine's uncle is probably going to die within the next few days. So my buddy has been sad for the last few couple days, I get that; I can understand that. He sent me a text today saying he went home. I ask him why. His response was he was having a bad day. I asked what the problem was, his reply was "Just stuff you dumbfuck." That pissed me off for whatever reason and I told him not to get zip with me. All he could say was "I will."

So I just put it out there for him like this-

"Yeah, I know your uncle is going to croak here in a short amount of time; death is a part of life. Quit walking around like you got kicked in the snatch, and go and be with him while he's still here. You need to realize that you only have so much time before they're gone. Quit being a bitch and go see him and realize that when he's gone, he will be at peace. Snap out of it."

He hasn't replied since. I did what I could anyways. Still don't know if I pushed it too far or not.

I will say that I am gonna be pretty tore up when my favorite Uncle passes. Ne will be 72 in a couple weeks. So far he is not showing any signs of checking out.

I'd say it was a bit far. Death is very much a part of life and something everyone must accept. Everyone figures this out different and might not be the best time to be a 'dick'. My 2 cents.

Well you aren't a dick in a bad way but you are a bit insensitive. You need to work on tact and diplomacy, which are ways of stating things that don't hurt peoples feelings or make them feel small or inferior. With tact and diplomacy, you can tell a person to go to hell and they will feel like paying for the trip is a bargain.

This in not the best forum to hang around to learn how to be tactful when you get right down to it but if you try hard and watch what you say, think before you speak, then, with a little practice, you won't be so much of a dick.

I understand that you can be crushed and I totally understand and get that but what he can't get through his head is if he keeps moping around, the next time he'll see uncle is at his funeral. I've been trying to get that through to him but he just doesn't seem to get it.

I can admit it, I'm insensitive about things. I have no problem calling it as I see it. I'll be there to support him. Another thing though that gets on my nerves is when he feels sorry for himself for crying. I don't care who you are, every man cries. Don't matter how big, mean and tough you are, every man cries. I don't and I hope non of you guys look down on a man who cries.

That was not being "Insensitive" insensitive is when you secretly don't really care, but are still polite and show respect. That was just being a dick, even before he called you a dumbfuck. If one of my friends were to say some stupid shit like that, all I can say is we would no longer be friends after that.
