I broke my wheel hoe last year, and decided that since I have a welder, I'd fix it. Good as new. Well, good as 1922, anyway.

Functionality, name of the game. Anybody shows up at my place with an x-ray machine is getting run off with a pitchfork.

AT, gotta ask, do you own a welding hood?
Your eyes are worth the investment now that you have a welder.
Burnt my eyes once and it's something you do not want.
Feels like sand in your eyes and hurts like hell.

He made one out of a cereal box, a pair of sunglasses, some tin foil, a hardhat liner and a piece of tinted glass.

Long term loan from the neighbor, who picked it up at a yard sale, but doesn't have a welder.

In all likelihood he owns a welder, he either just doesn't know it yet or hasn't had the time/balls/death wish to assemble it.

He did supply one of the microwaves for my machine, and was anxiously taking part in the development of Jefferson. I think he was waiting to see if it worked, since he already had the helmet, but then maybe changed his mind when he saw the power of the finished product. Oh well.
There will be an almost comical degree of irony if this thing does, in fact, kill me at some point.

Just make sure that when his microwave oven takes a shit that he throws it away or you will be only one microwave away from losing your helmet.
