Me and a couple friends went up to the lake the other day to do some scouting. The water is really low (go figure) so there is tons of shoreline normally under a couple feet of water. Found this perfectly good splitting wedge sticking out of the mud. Needs the rust knocked off and cleaned up, but hey its free!

Damn right! That's a $15 bill right there! Keep an eye out for those peppers this week.

Speaking of me being proud, tonight on the way home from Golden Corral (I love that place), I passed a bread pallet next to the highway. As I was thinking about circling back to pick it up, thinking about what I could use it for, I started passing piles of what looked like packages of hamburger buns all over the shoulder and in the grass. I just knew I could go back and pick up enough buns to avoid buying them for a year, but I don't have enough room in my freezer. Still second-guessing that decision.

And I don't know how many 5 gallon buckets I've picked up from ditches while driving. My dad is the cooler king though. I think like 3 of the 5 or 6 coolers we have, have been road finds. One of them (a small maybe 20 quart) still had ice, soda and beer in it.

I do love Golden Corral. This is going to sound like BS, but the steak there is pretty damn good. Not Ruth's Chris good (I was treated to that once, and even though I wasn't paying, I almost stroked out) or upscale independent steak house good, but better than any of the chains, and just as good as what I can cook at home. And I eat the equivalent of about $40 worth of steak, not to mention the steamed and sauteed shrimp, for $12. My kind of place. And that chocolate fountain is the best bribe in the world for a 5-year old. Mama hates it, so we only go when she has to work late.

I'm disappointed in you, that bread would have made great free bait.

Those trucks drop freakin chickens on a daily basis. Its common to head to MD and see a group of white chickens in the median pecking around. I hit one not long ago in the wife's car. She noticed I didnt hit the break. It made for a quiet relaxing drive.

I know. And for the life of me, I don't know how they get out, especially with the newer coops they use. That being said, whenever I see a live one, it gets picked up.

I wish I could find free chickens.... Haha

Fresh homegrown eggs are so much better than store bought. I mean, night and day different.

I'm going to have to build a coop, too. The owls have been putting a beating on the chickens. We're down to 2 now.

They actually have a flavor instead of just substance of a store egg

I do better than having a coop. My coworker raises chickens, ducks and pheasants and I can buy a dozen "organic" eggs from her for a buck. I don't have to house, clean or feed the little guys and get the eggs cheap enough.

It is good, but no as good as a baby spotted seal.

A co worker of mine lives up in the hills and spotted a very big cat walking across his back lawn just a couple weeks ago. He needs 2-3 mangy dogs patrolling his property

Seriously they are very good to eat. Too bad California outlawed hunting them. Idiots. My uncle has hounds and he helped a government trapper friend kill a few problem cats and they just had to shoot them and leave them to rot.

yea it's a shame. A lot of deer hunters think they are taking a toll on deer in certain places. California's so backwards in a lot of ways. Way not just sale a limited number of tags. Even make it a draw. Just to keep their numbers at bay. We get sightings here IN our small towns all the time. Folks who live on the outskirts are always having livestock taken by em
