Illinois Turkey

Has anyone been out this year turkey hunting? I just hunted four days and they just don't feel like playing. The second day I worked a couple gobblers and they were strutting up a storm and would not come in. They will fly off the roost, chat for a bit and then they shut up for the majority of the day..... I've got one more permit left for the last season and will be at it again on Friday. While its nothing like going after ducks I still love the challenge.

Nope. Tweaked my back lifting my daughter a week before the opener this week. I need to take it easy for a few more weeks. I'm only swimming now. I just bought a new kayak that's sitting idle too. This just sucks.

I am just getting back into swimming so my weak back was susceptible to injury because my muscles are still getting used to it. I picked her up from the side and she did the wet noodle on me just as I lifted her. That did it. Not bad but enough to know I need to take it easy. I must be feeling a little better. I just finished swimming 600 meters but far from the goal of 1500 meters.

Neither is he!

He's from up this way. Nanook was/is my first steady waterfowl partner.

If you make it up this way or somewhere in between this year, we might all share a blind.

I feel bad for him too...

He hasn't been eaten because he can run a call well. If he ever squeals out though...soups on!

Huntall6 it's fun but can be pretty hard given how good their eye sight is. There is a lot to learn and no one ever taught me, it's been trial by fire for sure.

You know y'all are welcome down here as well. Crappie bites on at Shelbyville if you will be in the area sometime soon. If not, hopefully the lake being low will help the millet growth for early in next season. Last time it was low like this I had my best teal season ever.

And does Betty know your cheating on him?

Betty's probably been seeing you for a lot longer than you've been seeing him

I won't be down for a while. Baby #2 is due in a week. How's the mid-summer crappie bite? Nice and crappie?

We usually do pretty good year round but I haven't fished since 2010, so things may have changed some. I may need to relearn some spots.
