He's probably going to be sore for a few days but I'm glad that that is the extent of it. He's lucky because he was prepared.

Serious question, does that make you guys think about your job, or do you kinda just block it out?

Of course it makes us think about our jobs...wakes ya up. Reminds us not to become complacent or lackadaisical.

***Disclaimer...I am in no way implying either of these two deputies were complacent or lackadaisical. But these incidents are wake up calls to remind us just what's out there

Carry a "throwaway gun" just in case you fuck up and always shoot first.

I'm looking forward to Olly's opinion on that one.

I offered to buy a .38 snub nose off of a family friend who was an NYC police officer in the 60's and 70's. I was helping him move and saw it out on a table. He said no way you don't want that one. He used the exact same terminology "throw away gun"

Didn't mean anything by it, just curious how you deal with it really. Don't know that I would want that for myself

Good to hear it all worked out, for the most part. He's gonna have one helluva a bruise too.
Lucky he plays poker with you guys or he might not know how important it is to stay prepared and vested up at all times.
