Given your profession, I thought it would have been a dead hooker.

Am exempt from hunter and boat safety courses.
Born 1961.

That means I was just born smarter than anyone born after 1980. Ha!

That is very cool. Wish I still had mine. I do have the antlers and deer tag from the first deer I shot in Mendocino County in 1956.

That's an awesome trophy Ron. How was the meat? Looks like it would be tough.

One of my friends lost his hunting license after the year was over, and when he went to buy the updated one for that year, the idiots at wal mart told him he couldn't use it, he had to have something to scan into the computer.

Try and hunt Canada with that mentality.
Mine is in my parents safe, but I also have the endorsement listed on the back of my license.

I'm in the old fart club like AB and Ron, and was grandfathered in for hunter safety and boating. Have hunted out of state in LA and MS over the years and was not required to have the hunter safety (that I am aware of anyway

), but have heard that it is still required in some states, even if you are over the age..........anybody know if that's true? Have thought about an AR, MO or even a TX hunt, and am curious if I will need to take the course to do so.

I took hunters safety in 1956. Don't know if it was required or not but my dad took me and we went deer hunting that fall. I think that the hunter safety course is a good idea. My next door neighbor wanted to go duck hunting with me so he got his license and stamps with a one year exemption and borrowed a shotgun and came with us. It was easy to see how hunter safety is a good thing with some of the stuff he put us through. He took the course and with our help he is an excellent hunting partner now.

Totally agree Ron, while I've not taken it I went through the course with my step-son and will be getting his field trial done here soon. I was raised by a Marine and was taught gun safety at a young age and am grateful for it.

In CA, Deltaman, if doesn't matter what age you are. They have the certificates in a data base since 1989, so you can get a copy through the DFG. However, even if you are 80 and have neither a HS Course or a previous year's license, you take the course over.

Thanks Jim! Figured there would be a few states that would not honor the age thing, so good to know for future, just in case I get a wild hair and try to make the West Coast hunt.

If I ever have any problems with anyone like rmfc giving me a hard time about gun safety I'll just accidentally shoot them once or twice, maybe three times.

C'mon out! But if it continues like last year, I'd plan a different destination!
