There's something that happened off camera between that boy and that dog. Maybe not that day but definitely some bad blood there. Too bad. That dog will be destroyed.
"Kid killer"

Something about how quick it happened makes me angry. No breed prejudice, I would take great joy with destroying that dog if that were one of my kids.

I have a lot of breed prejudice. You can't expect an animal that was breed specifically for aggressive behaviors to all of a sudden become a house pet. Pits have only been a popular breed since the 90s right? You can't expect a lion to be anything other than a lion even if raised by humans.

I'm no pit expert but have friends who own them and to me, that dog don't look like one. Head ain't right and the body is too big.

The pits I see have skinny bodies and fat, boxy heads.

I had a female golden retriever as my first dog. We had a fenced yard and there was a certain boy who threw rocks at her every time he went by. I reported him to the cops because I knew what might happen and a few weeks later it did.

My dog jumped the fence and bit the boy right on his face. His mom called 5-0.

I pulled out my notes and said I want to see officer "Jones". Jones took my previous report.

All I had to do was threaten mom with "animal cruelty charges on her boy" and she walked.

That is totally different. Totally. Your dog was provoked, ANY animal will try and defend itself if threatened. The pit in that video came all the way from another yard after seeing the kid and attacked it. You said "there MUST have been something to happen off camera" why? What leads you to think that? How could you possibly come to this conclusion based on the evidence presented to us? The video shows nothing that would have made the pit mix there feel threatened.

It didn't defend itself. It attacked; just like it's ancestors were breed by humans to do. The aggressive genes are written into the dogs very being just like the killer instincts of a lion are written in their genes. WE built these killer dogs and now everyone is all of a sudden shocked when they do what we designed them to do.

That cat is a bad ass, I don't care for cats and automatically assume that the cat was only protecting his future meal. Either way that cat scared the shit out of that dingo.

When I was a toddler in the '50s, one of my favorite playmates was a pit owned by my smotheringly cautious paternal grandparents. Wasn't chosen to protect us kids but to be a playmate ala Petey, the Little Rascal's dog, and I'm sure ours wasn't the only family of the time with such a member. There's long been great variation within the pit breeds, just like all others.

Interesting I know that the classic pit or American Pit Bull Terrier has been around for a long time but I always thought they didn't become house hold pets until the mid 80's or 90's. They were orginally breed to hunt large game like boars and bears and then later used as guard/attack/fighting dogs.

Cool story. So the dog is innocent until guilty (unless its revenge)? Are you saying if previously provoked, a dog is allowed to bite Logan, if he "had it coming" of course?

Maybe its just me, but when I see a dog seek out and take a bite out of, what looks like a 3 y/o kid it strikes a nerve. I would without hesitation put a bullet in my own dog if he ever drew blood.

That one may have swayed my view on cats, if only because he gave chase after the initial scrap. Bad ass cat.

Ahhhh yes the classic "I don't know what the hell I'm talking about so instead of providing a rebuttal to a valid argument presented against my opinion I'll just turn and insult so that hopefully no one will see how full of shit I am" argument.

You're WAY older than me. I thought you were supposed to be way smarter and way wiser. Can't you do better than that?

It's a chow mix. Same argument can be made, chows were breed for almost the same reason pit's were.

Type in "Cat saves boy from dog attack" in google. Every other article says either "lab/chow mix" or "pit/chow mix".

Just going by the 5 minutes of reading I did on the video.

Had a chow growing up know what they look like. Either way I still stand by my belief that owning an animal that was breed for hunting/killing/fighting/attacking is a dumb idea because no matter how much you raise that animal or love it. Genetically it's still a hunter/killer/fighter/attacker dog.

It's no different than taking a lion cub and raising it in your home as a pet from day one. It's still a lion.

I'll take that one Tim. If it was my dog. First I would laugh at the kids and say they got what they deserved. Then I would shoot the dog. I ain't going to take a chance with a dog that has attacked someone.
