...is the deal with parents these days???

So my neighbor's boy, Cody, is graduating the 8th grade next week. Cody's a great kid, but he ain't graduating from college.

So it starts with his mom coming over to tell my wife that all the boys are wearing "Rock Revivals" to the graduation. I asked what are those? She's says "oh just designer jeans." I say " sounds expensive". My wife says "$200 jeans." I choked on my coffee and said "no trust me not every boy is wearing those to the graduation." Just as I though it turns out it's just the popular boys wearing them.

Then she says they're renting a limo to pick up these boys and their designer jeans and a group of girls in $300-$400 wedding gowns to take out to the beach where a professional photographer will be waiting to photograph them all.

The limo is then taking them out to some high end restaurant for an early dinner, before taking them to graduation.

The day after graduation these 8 boys and 8 girls are all going to some water park outta town for a couple of days. Because the three day 8th grade trip to the Bay Area they are on as we speak isn't enough.

Sam looks at me with a shit eating grin and I said "don't even think about it."

Fuck that....tell them they have your permission to go camping instead.

Congrats to the kid for graduating 8th grade. My school tried to make a big deal of it too but my folks didn't bite. It's 8 th grade you're supposed to graduate is what my pops told me. Celebrate when you pass high school. Making that big if a deal is just celebrating mediocrity.

Exactly. We sometimes got new bikes or stuff like that for passing grades, not 200$ jeans, limos and our dicks sucked. Even then, by 8th grade I'm not sure I got anything but a summer job.

Looking back on it, 8th great BJs were god awful. Gotta start somewhere though

this isn't even the school. This is the group of parents blowing this outta proportion. And you're right. So you graduated the 8th grade. Big deal. It's easy

my dad did drop $165 on a used Ithaca model 37 at the hock shop. But that was it. In his eyes it was something I needed and something we'd use

believe it or not he doesn't. In fact I don't know that he wears any pants in that house. One of my hunting partners. Down to earth simple guy. But has no problem dropping $200 on a new baseball bat for Cody

and my wife was telling me the parents of the girls are buying em $300-$400 dresses for this graduation. My wife's wedding dress was just over $400!

Ha, those are some funny looking girly jeans right there, my step-son would not wear those.....

This current 8th grade class, with the exception of Cody who really is a good kid, is fulla douche bags and future baby mommas. Sam's 7th grade class is so much cooler. They're like the cast of the Sandlot
