So my wife and I are looking to buy an investment property in Puerto Rico where we can stay when we vacation there and visit family. Later, it may become one of our retirement homes. Our real estate agent contacted us today and wants us to film an episode of House Hunters International on HGTV. The funny thing is that this isn't the first time we've been on reality TV by pure chance. The first time was while my wife was in the hospital after she gave birth to the girls. Our friend from Madrid knew the producer of a reality show in Spain that showed Spanish living in different places throughout the world. They did an episode on Pittsburgh, came to the hospital and interviewed my wife. Her family in Spain loved seeing her with the twins on TV over there.

So what do you think about the House Hunters International? Should we do it?

my wife watches it. Well she prefers the regular House Hunters, but she'll occasionally watch the international version. I've seen it plenty of times while laying in bed trying to go to sleep. It's alright. There's nothing wrong with it. Good show I guess for folks who're into that sorta thing. I know it's one of the more longer running shows on that channel. Meaning it's been around awhile. Having seen em both, I will add the international version is much cooler cause like you said it's always folks buying cool vacation homes.

I was hoping you would have that info. I would imagine there has to be some sort of monetary compensation.

They dont make these shows out of the goodness of their hearts, its a business, and there are costs to do business.
Tell them you want 10K for your time.

They give something but not much. It's a low budget show on a small cable network. The agent sprung it on us today while we were both at work so, we weren't able to discuss it yet.

If the amount they are willing to pay is worth the hassle the two of you will be dealing with or you just want to say you've been on tv, go for it.

Maybe get the money from the producers of the show and get the realtor share her favors with you (and your wife, perhaps).
