Need Some Figuring Help

Postby assateague » Sat Jun 07, 2014 8:47 am

It's no secret I hate math.

If something is 40% ingredient A, 38% ingredient B, and 9% ingredient C, I need to figure out a "parts" method.

For example, can I use 4 grams A, 3.8 grams B, and .9 grams C? I know it doesn't add up to 100%, and I'm hoping the extra 10% is just inert ingredients or filler of some sort. Although I will maintain my distance when trying it for the first time.

That sounds about right. But instead of grams, you should be using pounds. Or kilos.

Correct, it the original formula is the percentage by weight.

In retrospect, using powdered sugar instead of regular was a bad idea.

If the big squares equal 100 and the lines equal 10 and the little squares equal 1 then.....................

I asked my daughter for help, but she started along about "making tens", and I kept telling her "no, I'm making smoke bombs", and the conversation just never really went anywhere. Sort of like a Common Core "who's on first".
