Awesome Duck Club

I drove a beautiful Duck club yesterday with the owner.
He is a well known call maker and championship caller been in business for over thirty years.
I'm not trying to be mysterious I'm just not sure if he would want his name mentioned.
I found him to be a great guy and hope to purchase a membership in his club unfortunately there is a waiting list but I'm hoping it works out.
The club is on a large river and the ponds are shrouded in large trees.
You boat into the blinds under a canopy of trees it's absolutely beautiful.
Stationary blinds in each pond with throw covers and boat ports hidden under the trees behind the blinds.
It's a dream club for sure.
I wish a could have taken some pics but it didn't want to ask as a guest.

Legband I hear Mickey is very humble man so good call on not mentioning his name. By the way I'm on his pro staff, he just doesn't know it.

FYI

You might want to do a little research on that club ? If it is the one mentioned above it hasn't shot squat in years !
I know what happens along that stretch of river and there are better spots . This year it's all a gamble so , you pay your
dues and what you get , is what you get ?

He said it was really neat place, not that it shot well.

As I understand it, in California it is fashionable to belong to two clubs, one where you wail on the meat and another just for the scenery.

Sounds like you just described the difference between a whore house and a strip club.

I don't know what's cheeper a club membership or developing ranch ponds I have spent a fortune putting in blinds and doing dirt work ,building water gates , planting cover crops , and the electricity for the pumps is wacked.
I think they should spell( duck hunting ) with five letters. ( MONEY )

Well it's not quite that easy , but yes I'm familiar with the programs that are available.
And please don't take this the wrong way it's not focused at you.
You don't get welfare money with out giving up rights.
I want nothing from the government except to be left alone , I don't want government personal on my property with out a warrant.
I don't trust them or even care to be around them.
Even on land they buy (for public use ) As soon as they take it over they close most of it and let you use a little bit , when they want you to.
Look at this last government shut down the first thing they did was say the refuses would be closed.
They could have said use them with caution they will be unmanned but instead they said they would be closed.
They have already closed half the Forrest Service roads in winter for your safety of course.
No , no thanks I'll pay my own way and owe them nothing.

From the limited experience I have with WRPs, just knowing a land owner who takes advantage of the opportunities, you dont "owe" them much if anything. Maybe it comes down to the land owner, and how much you let them intrude. He told me that his contract states "he must make an ATTEMPT to follow the bio's guidelines", if he doesnt like - he just does his own thing.

I had department of fish and game fund 300k worth of work at my place. They set up the layout of the property. Then check with you and ask questions if you are satisfied with the design. After that's gets all squared away. Fish and game will hire a private company to do the earth work. I've had a very good relationship with them over the past 12 years since the work has been done. The goal of this program is to insure the land is left in its natural state in perpetuity. Nothing to worry about really. It's a solid deal.

You're on borrowed time is all. Soon the government is going to show up in black helicopters and kill your women and rape your livestock.

I've heard rumors their are ways around it. But I think that's b.s.

To answer the question. Yes that is the whole point of the program. Make sure the land doesn't get turned into a fuckin shopping mall in 20 years

So if you have land that is basically Duck ground you may not be giving up rights , but if it' may have other uses in the future that's another story.
Is it monitored by them? Do they have the right to inspect your property?

Yeah. They send a guy out once a year to see how its going and troubleshoot any problems and give advice if you want it. It's quite laid back deal. I haven't had them come out in a couple years. Neither has the neighbouring club to the north of us that had a shit load of work done the same summer. The only rule is you can't put more then 5percent of the ground that is under an easement into food plots and any major earth work you would like to do has to be approved by them. They do that because their are lots of Ritchie ritch guys that want to build random shit in the ponds that actually screws up water flow and the design of the land....... I've bent the rules a couple of times and put around 50percent into food plots and they basically said stop doing that. So now i follow the rules.lol

If you do have a piece of land you don't have to put it all into the easement. We still have around 20 acres out there that is going to be put into almond orchard in the near future. Which makes it nice to earn a little profit to help cover the costs and give you a tax brake.
