We were bored today so we took the kids for a ride, went to Crater Lake. Forgot just how busy that place can be in the summer, I saw license plates from New Jersey, Maine and everywhere in between.

The pinnacles, formed by steam plumes rising through ash and pumice, heating and hardening, then the softer ash/pumice being eroded away by Annie creek.

Thank you. My OCD was getting me rather irritated scrolling through waiting to find the answer. I almost had to leave and go Google.

There are non-native rainbow and kokanee in there, no license, no limit - catch all you can pack up the 1+ mile trail to the road. People who have done it say "its 1 mile down and 3 miles back up".

I just wasn't sure if it showed up very well. I always wanted to hike down there and go for a ride, but now I'm too lazy.

Its a sight in winter, annual snowfall is ridiculous. I've been up there when there was 12 foot on the ground. They put these big half culverts up to the building doorways so the snow doesnt block it.

In MI you can just by 1 pass to all the parks in the state. You can even make it part of your license renewal.

Shit! I forgot about that. How confused would the kid at the gate have had I whipped out the duck stamp then helicoptered up the hill?
