Digging up bones

I was digging through old decoys for a project tonight and found my very first two. Standard Flambeau mallards with the water keel. Still have the landline number to the house I grew up in wrote on the bottom. I got these for Christmas at I don't know what age but it was the coolest gift in the world to me. These two dekes are the only I ever hunted over with my dad before he passed. The old man was a tournament bass fisherman and occasional deer hunter but I had to practically drag him to get him in a duck blind with me. A lot of memories from that trip and years more of service out of these blocks. Cork L.L. Beans or paper mache relics they ain't, but, I hope generation after generation of My family will hunt over them as hard as I have.

I don't have any old duck gear. Dad wasn't a duck hunter. Just a couple old shotties dad passed down

Similar story, don't have any waterfowlers in my heritage - but my granddad was a serious quail/pheasant hunter. I've got his old model 11 Remington

I'm the first waterfowler as well but my granddad wad the same. Have his old wingmaster 16 in the safe.

I've gotten so used to my dad cussing me out for using his stuff even after he's gone I won't be able to pick it up without looking over my shoulder.

Have a 3030 from grandpa though. He was never much of a hunter, just liked the fashion.

My Dad and I hunted ducks and pheasants a lot when I was growing up. I had those rubber hip boots and a camo rubber coat that went to the calves. I fucking froze every time we went out while wearing that shit but I never said anything because I never wanted to leave. As I got older and could fit into his warmer, better clothes I began grabbing his gear. I still have bags of decoys we used back then in my garage somewhere, they were the heavy rubber inflatable kind. My dad is still doing well at 81.

My dad didn't duck hunt either. He handed down a model 94 lever action to me and, that gun is now quackheads. I think my son took it out and shot an antelope a couple years ago. if that gun could talk.............
