...Sam is going into the 8th grade next year. And high school the following year. Basketball is his only sport. Basketball spans the entire hunting season. Once high school rolls around, I'll be lucky to hunt with him on Saturdays only (I work Sundays). That is if his coach doesn't get a wild hair up his ass and schedule Saturday practices. Kind of a downer really.

But my next youngest boy, Jack, is only 6 and has a few years to go to be ready. Something to look forward too I guess

My two girls 11 and 8 have zero interest

Sorry to hear that red. Luckily my son plays baseball and the only off season is during duck season playing tournaments march to November.

funny thing is I hate baseball. I'm strictly a basketball guy myself. But with that said I tried to nudge him into baseball for that very reason. But it wasn't meant to be

I'm in the same situation. I hate softball and never have been really good at volleyball. I usually get to hunt on Sundays if I'm lucky. Sometimes basketball tournaments last the whole weekend though.

Don't worry, the chance of a white dude making it in basketball is pretty slim. I know I started hunting a lot more after high school

Anyone else think Red should start up a family business? I think "Redbeard and sons" has a nice ring to it!

With football, the only thing I miss out on is 2-3week long hunting trips out of state every year, instead it is only every two years that I get to go (I feel like a spoiled rich kid saying that, maybe one day I'll have a blind like boot's ) Luckily on the days I have practice, my dad is working anyhow. And it is only a month of the season I have to miss.
